Plein Air at Los Angeles State Historical Park

Los Angeles State Historic Park – Los Angeles CA – October 2022

It was a dark, cloudy day with mild temperatures when I spent the day painting these with a group of plein air painters. I am always refining my style. These brush strokes are more loose and quick but also conveys the movement and color contrast I like. This park is a good subject to paint – it has a lot of open fields, trees, walkways, and bridges. I painted these all afternoon until the sun was setting. I knew I was finished at that point because the sprinklers came on in the park and chased all of us away!
