Little Landers Park near to my home happens to house the Bolton Hall Museum, a stone building built by the pioneers to the area of Tujunga, California. This makes it a convenient subject to paint. Last weekend I spent a few hours painting and then checked out the museum.
Earlier in the month, I was in the San Fernando Valley area looking for a subject. I found that Reseda has a park with a lake, simply called: Reseda Lake Park. It has a small island and seems to attract birds of all kinds. Below is my plein air, alla prima effort. I’m thinking of adding another layer of color to finish it.
Below is the finished painting. I like how the dots make the scene dance and move and also makes it look sewn or crafted instead of painted.
