Creative Arts Sale at the Tree Lighting Festival

Season’s Greetings! Other than painting local scenes I also like to go to art and craft fairs and meet people who like local artisans. Here are some photos from a Tree Lighting event that I attended at Enegren Brewing Company in Moorpark, California on November 25, 2023. Thank you to Enegren for letting us participate in this awesome event! I shared a booth with my creative parents, who sold my mom’s handmade polymer gnomes. There was plenty of room; below is our booth setup.

My setup is on the left and the gnome village is on the right.

It was a long day that started with setting up our booth in the closed-off street at 8:30am. A specialized truck and trailer came by with a machine that turned ice blocks into snow. They blasted enough snow for the kids to have a snow slide that lasted all day.

When it wasn’t busy, I do what I always do. I took the opportunity to paint a stylized dot painting inspired by the scene.

This is my easel rotated 90 degrees from where I painted but I had to catch the light to take a decent photo.

By the afternoon, a lot of people and their families showed up to partake in events, browse the vendors, and see the festive cheer. A young boy wanted to buy one of my paintings for his parents as a gift so I gave the sweet kid a sweet deal on it. Lots of gnomes and even a t-shirt sold. The tree lighting was at 6:30pm. We started packing up a little before that because we were hungry and tired after being on our feet all day. Overall, it was a fun, memorable, but exhausting day!
