Here is a painting I did with my painting group at the Brand Library and park in Glendale, California. The light was bright and the shadows off the library were different shades depending on reflected light. I loved that the Hong Kong orchid tree was in bloom with its giant pink flowers. This painting is a combination of many different styles I have painted in. It has some solid areas and lines like my more illustrative cloisonnist paintings. It also has the complementary under-painting I have experimented with. Ultimately the last layer of brushstrokes gives it more of an impressionistic look. I think it accomplished what I set out to do.
