Today my painting group and I met at the L.A. river in Atwater, California. It was a great idea to start early in the morning to paint on this summer day. It was foggy early but it began to burn off as time went on so the light was changing quickly. My painting uses my cloisonnist style with blocks of color. My subject was the over from side to side as it disappeared bordered by it’s concrete edges.

Larry, the group organizer, also challenged me to add finishing touches to his own painting. His subject was the river’s cattail bushes with an egret or heron in the water. It was in an impressionist style and I added some color and contrast. Today was kind of a two-for-one.
