Hello! A new city means new places to paint. And I’ve been busy painting downtown San Fernando.
The first painting is of an intersection where there is a Mexican food restaurant and a record store. This painting is in acrylic on 16×20-in canvas. I did this in a kind of a faded style not using very saturated colors to give it a timeless look.
The next painting is of the entrance to the San Fernando Mall. I had two canvases that were 10×20-in long and I stapled them together to make one large 20 x 20 in canvas paint on. The idea for this painting is to leave the black outlines and color it in using only buff titanium and mars black. I used a little white in the sky and since white has a little blue in it it kind of looks like the blue sky trying to peek through.
The last painting I really went all out with the monochromatic theme. I did this painting and all blue colors from the darkest blue to the lightest blue with a little bit of white added. For this composition I liked how the left side was in Shadow the right side was in Sun and both of them were converging together into the horizon.
I hope you enjoyed my three different takes on downtown San Fernando and, if you have a city that you think would be great for me to paint comment and let me know (southern California) — and maybe I will be in your town next. Have a great day, bye for now.
