Painting by Oscar Will is of a man in a blue suit sitting in a yellow chair with his legs crossed looking down at something in his lap, dark blue walls behind him and windows on the right.

His Favorite Chair, B&W and Color

Last year I worked on a series of painting based on old photos, I called them my Random Vending Machine Photo Series. One photo in black and white is of a man sitting in a chair with his legs crossed looking down at something in his lap, no light behind him and dramatic light from windows streaming from the right. I did a black and white painting of it mostly in one sitting. Lately I’ve been reworking paintings and decided that I either had to finish it black and white or add color. I decided to do it in my own style and added bright color and black lines. Some have said they liked the original black and white painting, as it is closest to the photo. I felt the original was unfinished and at the fork in the road of black and white or color, I chose color.
